I think that a futon is > a couchYou can fold the futon into a couch or a bed so it serves more purposes than a couch. Unless you have a hideaway bed in the couch, then I would have to agree with you.
From my experience, futons tend to be uncomfortable. And I am completely biased towards my own squishy puke green sofa.
