That's a good way of looking at it. I'm also an English major and write all day every day about things I don't care about, which is sort of killing my creativity and depleting my resources as an author.
You should join the National Novel Writing Month - 50,000 words in a month. I'm doing it. So far I'm keeping up with the average.That will keep your creativity on overdrive.
