Dirt

I appreciate good mud.

Thick, dark, sticky mud that flicks up and streaks the back of your calves when you run. The kind of mud that sucks onto your feet when you stand in it too long and mixes with sweat to cling to your forearms in a grainy, earthy paste. Mud is one of nature's many ways of reminding us of our animalistic side. We avoid it because society says its accumulation makes us dirty and unattractive, but I think there's a little part deep down in each of us that wants to be close to mud when we see it. But we don't do it, because it's not OK.

Mud also makes an exceptional exfoliant.
