The United States of Angst

"Hey, I'm the U.S. I am 14 years old and I am quintessentially adolescent. I am infantile compared to every other civilization in the world. I want a lot of stuff. I don't know how to take care of myself. I don't know how to take care of other people. I don't know what to do with unborn babies or TV or people who look different or poor people or kids or the Bible or the environment or the Koran or money. I don't know what's right or what's wrong. I don't even know what color I am or what language I'm supposed to speak. I don't know where I'm going, or where there is to go. Nobody understands me! I just want other people to see my point of view! I don't understand why everybody has to hate me! Why won't they just listen?! I'm so fat, ugh."

Yup. I was driving in my freezing cold German car (her heat decided not to work today) when I realized that I live in a very, very young country.
