And for the record: no, I don't find this offensive or mean. It would be if this lady was just some outsider passing judgment on the mentally challenged. She is, however, choosing to help these kids learn (however limitedly) in the face of so many challenges. Teaching special ed has to be one of the hardest things in the world to do. It would be so difficult to work continuously with children who you know will only be able to function at a second-grade level for the rest of their lives. You'd have to have sense of humor of some semblance. If anyone's entitled to make fun of these kids, it's her.
